About us

Our core purpose states:

CSG attempts to bring a global perspective to local activities in Prince Edward County. Healing the earth depends on our acceptance of the limits Nature places on growth of all kinds. By exploring and initiating practical ways of doing this, we engage with others who look towards our ecological and energy future.

Who We are

The organization grew out of a gathering of local individuals in the Picton area in 2007 who are (alarmed?) concerned about our common future because neither local political leadership, nor at provincial or federal levels, appear to recognize limits to growth.  Scientific evidence strongly suggests that global human activity now exceeds that which planet Earth’s natural living systems could sustain.

CSG member are aware that people living today have only a temporary use of Earth’s many riches, and we have a human (moral?) duty do work toward preservation of a the vibrant natural world we inherited. We further recognize that lasting sustainability cannot be achieved at a local scale unless global sustainability is also assured.

What we do

The hot button menu on the left will link to other pages that will relate local to global issues where possible.

In our sections on [Global/Local Issues] and [Sustainability], we will provide data to substantiate our concerns, and justify the banner we sometimes show stating:

Extinction: The High Cost Of Growth

The CSG [Activities] section points to upcoming CSG events, and summarizes past activities, including past newsletters.
